Where do I begin? This is the most difficult recording that I have had to review. Under New Management are a Suffolk based band who write and perform "rock with a hint of pop" material. From the information supplied by the band they appear to spend much of their time gigging on a donation only basis. The Answer' is an eclectic eight track cassette with vignettes of early Pink Floyd, Bryan Ferry etc but landing squarely in the late 70s 'Christian scene'. The underlying musical structure of the songs is pretty good but the finished product is lacking whilst the lyrics tend to be a little bathetic (look it up). Overall I get the feeling that 'The Answer' doesn't do justice to Under New Management's abilities. Perhaps they should try a live recording next or locate a producer.
