Having started writing songs when she was only eight years old, America's V.Rose was part of a duo, Harmony, by her mid-teens and subsequently turned up providing vocals on several Christian hip-hop projects. This debut solo set of 11 songs kicks off with "Not So Average", a song about self-image and deception, which focuses on the kind of preoccupations of many teenage girls. The clear message of the songs is that Jesus can make a real difference - with "Christian Girl" making that very explicit in the lyrics. Rapper Flame joins the singer on a couple of tracks, notably "Battery", and John Katina, of CCM hitmakers The Katinas, joins V.Rose on "Love Pursuit". Overall, this is a catchy set of songs, with shades of Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry, and with its quality production and strong hooks will appeal to teens and pre-teens everywhere.
