Willie is a South African singer/songwriter who describes this album as a "call to all the disillusioned and backslidden" to "hold on to your faith". This is very much MOR fare, often feeling very traditional in nature. Joubert has a voice at turns delicately singing the ballads predominantly on offer here or reaching the heights on the few grander songs backed by expansive instrumental arrangements. Much of the music's strength, on those bigger numbers such as the title track, is gained from the unmistakably stirring African sounding backing vocals. Sadly that African sound is little in evidence on other songs. Interestingly "Go Rest High On That Mountain" is dedicated to the memory of the fallen South African cricket captain, Hanse Cronje who was killed in an air crash shortly after the song was recorded. A number of the songs are sung in Afrikaans with the only uptempo number being "Ek Gee My Hart". I can't help thinking that a little more musical variety would make this a more rewarding listen.
