Jesus music's Janny Grein dies in Texas

JESUS music pioneer Janny Grein died of cancer in Fort Worth, Texas on 4th August. A native of Arkansas, Janny was working the mainstream clubs until she and her husband Bill both experienced a spiritual awakening after watching the film King Of Kings on TV. In 1976 Janny became the second artist signed to the newly birthed Sparrow Records. Her albums 'Free Indeed' (1976), 'Covenant Woman' (1977) and 'He Made Me Worthy' (1978) all became popular on US Christian radio. Later in her ministry Janny wrote the book Called, Appointed, Anointed and over the last few years has released albums independently, the last being 'River Rising' in 2009. Janny's public memorial service will be held at Eagle Mountain International Church in Fort Worth on 9th August. An article about Janny will be published soon by Cross Rhythms. CR

A song of Janny's came to mind so I looked it up and listened. Honestly I had forgotten her. What beautiful music she left us! I had no idea that she had died! She will keep blessing people over and over! I am thankful to be one!

oh no!!! I can't believe she's gone to be with Jesus already. I've been trying to get a new copy of Janny - Covenant Woman for a couple of years. Mine is quite worn out. My old turntable doesn't turn anymore. Trying to find a CD. Been searching I tunes. Could have found her sooner, but they spell her name differently than on the album. A couple songs popped up on the interent; the instant I heard them, I could sing along with them. Haven't heard them in 20 years. The Lord used her to change my life. "Nothin will work till He's the Lord of your life!" LOVE Janny!

I JUST WENT ON-LINE TO GET ANOTHER COPY OF COVENANT WOMAN....I HAD NO IDEA THAT JANNY ACTUALLY DIED 5 YEARS AGO! I DID MIME OF COVENANT WOMAN AT A WEIGHT WATCHERS CAMP YEARS AGO. SHE WAS A GREAT VOCALIST - HAD AN ENORMOUS RANGE AND A SUBTLE SEXY QUALITY TO HER VOICE. ALTHOUGH THE MESSAGE IS TOTALLY SPIRITUAL PROMOTING AN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH YESHUA. I NEVER SAW PICTURES OF HER UNTIL TODAY. SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL.

I was awoke at 4:40 a.m. and was spending time with God,. I thought of how she impacted my life with her song track if Stronger than before, the music was so personal with her and our Jesus that I was so touched and overwhelmed that we could have such a live relationship with Him. I heard her song at New Covenant ministry in Jacksonville Florida she talked about a concert she had and I think she said only a couple if people had shown up and she asked God what was going on and He responded to her ( who are you singing to ) and she started to sing and when she opened her eyes the place was full. I was praying and I thought about my relationship whit God now and I went on her website and found that she had cancer and passed on. I'm do sorry I hadn't known and I miss her greatly but at the same time I'm happy for her she's with Jesus Christ, can't compare to bring here. So missing her though!

Janny blessed my life the very first time I heard her in the early 80's. By His Word, was and still is one of my favorites. I had no idea of her passing. I can hardly wait to hear her in Heaven.

Decided to listen to my favorite songs by Janny this am(5/15/16) had no idea she had ascended to be with our wonderful Lord and Savior. She has blessed me for years and will continue to. Looking forward to the day when we are all in his presence daily. Rest Janny, you your music lives ..

As a new Christian in 1979, I heard Janny's Jesus praising, amazing worship and ministering music because of the my friend Becky who played her all the time. Janny's music has always been part of my own personal worship to our Great Lord. I was honored to see her perform at a church in upstate New York. Her music is awesome and hard to come by. I wish it were played on Christian radio. Where can I get those CD's now. (I once had all the 8 tracks...those were the days!) I am grateful!

I graduated from Joplin High School in 1964 with Janice James (Janny). She was a Joplin, MO resident. My mother and hers were friends. Just wondered how it was decided her residence was Arkansas?

Janny's music had a great effect on my life in the late 70s when I was a new believer. Janny's music was always based on the Word and had great anointing. 'Covenant woman' had a great effect on my life. I recall the words of the songs and sing them even today.
