Why is it that your keys are the most difficult things to find in the world? In summer we run a children's holiday for 11-14 year olds. On one occasion one of the leaders who shall remain nameless (although he does host the breakfast show for a certain radio station!) anyway Steve, oh I've gone and told you his name now, he hadn't really driven his car all week but had still taken his keys with him when we went out. It was the last morning and we were all packing up and beginning to load up the vehicles but Steve couldn't find his car keys!! We had everyone looking for them; it got so desperate at one stage that we even resorted to prayer! Well after about 11/2 hours of scouring a country house with about 50 rooms they were eventually found in a box under the front passenger seat in the mini-bus!

Psalm 119: 105 'Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.'

God's word to us should be the one thing that guides our hopes, dreams and lives and yet so often we find that we can't find our Bibles. If you look across other religions they have some very different ideas about how they treat their "holy books", for instance, in one religion before they can even touch it they have to go and have a bath to cleanse themselves. Now, thank God that through what Jesus did we now can; as it reads in Hebrews 10: 19-20:

'Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,'(Read the rest of this fantastic verse)

The Bible should be our way of life and yet we leave it in a place where we forget about it. Whenever I counsel people and they say things like "I keep forgetting to spend time with God" and "I forget to read my Bible". I tell them to put their Bible in a place where they cannot miss it first thing in the morning for example their underwear drawer!!! I can hear the cries "stone him!" ringing out; "put your Bible with your pants, that's blasphemy!!" But to my way of thinking it is better to be put in with your pants and read than in a place of honour and forgotten.

2 Timothy 2: 15
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

Do yourself a favour today, pick up your Bible and find the best place to put it so that you will see it everyday, and not only see it but use it and get yourself approved by God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. CR
