Christian record companies agree to provide info for compilation of charts

BRITAIN'S Christian record companies have agreed to provide regular sales information for the compilation of official British Christian music charts. These charts, which will be used by London Christian Radio and published by Cross Rhythms, are set to become the official guide of what albums are genuinely popular with the British public. The chart will be broken down into two main categories, Contemporary and Praise And Worship/MOR. Degarmo And Key Split One of America's most popular and durable Christian rock teams Degarmo And Key have announced that they have broken up. During their 15 years together the Memphis duo have produced a series of best selling CCM albums including 'Mission Of Mercy' (1983), 'Street Light' (1986), D&K' (1987) and 'The Pledge' (1989). Their last album was 'To Extremes'. In an announcement Ed Degarmo said he wanted to focus more on his position as co-owner of ForeFront Communications (the successful CCM company whose roster includes DC Talk). Dana Key is busy working on a solo project (his second) for release on ForeFront this summer. A final "farewell" concert for the duo is planned in Nashville for the spring. CR
