Jesus music veteran Larry Norman collapses after concert in Holland
THE 'FAREWELL European Tour' by veteran American rocker Larry Norman came to an abrupt end on 19th June when he was rushed to hospital following a concert in Drachden, Holland. Larry suffers from a chronic heart condition that caused two heart attacks last year and it now seems unlikely that he will perform live again. In an interview on Dutch television Larry stated that he does not expect to live more than two years, and a faxed apology to ticket holders for his cancelled concert in Belfast said, "I do not know how much longer I will live. But then, none of us know this about our own lives. But we do know that Jesus is waiting for us at the end of the darkness and at the beginning of the light."
Larry was released from hospital after 10 days and immediately entered
the recording studio with Dutch rock gospel band Thesis, with whom
he'd been touring. Larry recorded seven tracks (including songs called
"Goodbye" and "One Foot In The Grave"). GMI Music in Holland have
recorded his concerts and there should be enough material for a
farewell live album. There are problems with the size of the bill for
Larry's medical treatment. Letters to fans and supporters have been
circulated with an appeal for financial help.
