Vintage Cooke

AN ALBUM 'I Thank God' by Sam Cooke, The Gospel Harmonettes and The Original Blind Boys has been re-issued on CD by Soul Jam Records. Read a review in Record Collector magazine, "Sam Cooke gets top billing on the sleeve. . . But though he's the most famous of the three. . . it's the rousing 'Love Lifted Me' and 'Trust And Obey' [which provide] a get-up-on-your-feet Revival, both to find by the inimitable fire-in-the-belly attitudinal tones of Birmingham, Alabama's Dorothy love Coates." The remastered package also includes eight bonus tracks consisting of gospel songs recorded by Cooke as a solo artist or with The Soul Stirrers. CR
