Original Prayer

Hi Folks, I have read many of the prayer calls here and would advise people to rid themselves of guilt and shame. There is only one entity which deals in guilt and shame and it will be laughing all the way to its pit. If you have given your life to Jesus, He has taken your guilt and shame. It is His responsibility to take away cravings in His good time. I do not advocate complacency but trust in God to do His work so you can be clear of crippling guilt and shame. I smoke and many Christians seem to think this is another of the growing catalogue of unforgivable sins. God has never spoken to me about it and has even used my habit to bring comfort to others who have been on the sharp end of Christian finger pointing and who have been made to feel like outcasts. I do not feel guilt or shame about smoking but, if and when God asks me to stop, He will give me the resources to deal with the matter. I also have a problem with pornography but, if I fall, I refuse to lapse into the trap of guilt and shame which held me for so long. I began to turn to God for forgiveness and tell guilt and shame to go to the pit with its source. As a result I began to fall less and less. I was trusting God rather than myself or any other human prop and slowly, gently without any finger pointing and hurt God is dealing with it. Be of good courage all of you. God is with you and will sort it out in His good time. He may even use your problem to help others and yourself if you will let Him. DO NOT BE ASHAMED OR FEEL GUILTY. You are part of God's family. That family is not perfect and until we all grow into The Way of Love you may be hurt by relatives who have not yet been given understanding of what Love truly is. You never know, you might have the Love of God revealed to you before them and be able to help them on their way. The truth is that there is a chink in everyone's armour and even strength can be a weakness when it makes others feel inferior. Many who point the fingers (and quoting Bible verses can be just as much finger pointing as normal conversation) have issues which are, unbeknown to them, triggering their actions and making them something which would bring horror to their hearts is they knew. Peter told Jesus he shouldn't go to the cross. The response? "Get behind me satan". He had unknowingly become the enemy's agent. Love in Jesus to all. You'll make it.
