For a chap who is primarily an actor and whose singing ability is strictly that of an old style crooner, Andy Griffith has sold an awful lot of albums (his 'I Love To Tell The Story' set of ancient hymns went gold Stateside). Here he performs ponderous versions of a wedge of the usual suspects ("Away In A Manger", "O Come O Come Emmanuel", "Silent Night") with adequate production from country star Marky Stewart. Highlights are his readings of the stories "The Christmas Guest" and "The Juggler" but if truth be told, this is the kind of highly American sentimentality that doesn't mean too much to many Brits.
