History has decreed that when the definitive history of gospel music is written, Danniebelle, who died last year after a lengthy illness, will be included - though her entry will be on the short side. For the diva never quite fulfilled her creative potential after the brightest of starts with Andrae Crouch And The Disciples, whose songs like "Soon And Very Soon" showcased Danniebelle at her best. But then, when the singer struck out on her onw, finding material of that exceptional quality was always going to be a near impossibility. As far as her Light albums went the situation wasn't helped by sadling the diva with productions that too often settled for middle of the road sounds and cod jazz arrangements. This CD isn't, as might be inferred from the misleading title, a specially compiled tribute, but a straight twofer giving a CD airing to '70s albums 'Let Me Have A Dream' and 'Danniebelle.Live In Sweden With Chorulerna'. There are some fiery moments - her workout with that phenomenal Scandinavian choir was always fun. But this set will mainly be bought to aging Jesus music nostalgists rather than gospel fans keen to discover another giant of the music.
