Darrell North worked in the high stress environment of the FBI for 22 years and these 23 tracks are his gift to those still serving in high pressure positions. Disc 1 of this instrumental package is subtitled 'Inspiration' and features 10 tracks that range in style from Top Gun cast-offs "Compassionate Strength" and "Take It To The Enemy", to bonkers bluegrass ("The Chase"). Enjoyably, "Dance Of The Snowman" is evocative of both the Airwolf and Ghostbusters theme and the disc finishes with a rousing rendition of "God Bless America". In post Team America: World Police days it's hard to hear much of this without an ironic smirk. Disc 2 ('Relaxation') is the better of the two from a listening perspective - North's exclusive use of synth instrumentation fits the reflective style better than the earlier, rockier tracks. In all fairness, the compositions are fairly good and they clearly do exist to serve a very specific purpose. The packaging is peppered with inspiring Bible quotes as well as commendations from medical professionals, including at least one rectal surgeon. It also comes with rather specific usage instructions to the listener, which could be a first. North is a cancer survivor who left his work due to the illness. He found himself strengthened through inspirational music during this time and he set up his music ministry to serve those who are grieving and in need of healing - for some in this niche market this CD will serve its purpose.
