Dave was music pastor at Kensington Temple for 17 years and is now based at Cheltenham Elim Church. Experience certainly shows in this new album. The theme is "Pour your Spirit out" and every track re-enforces the prayer. The album was produced, engineered and mixed by the renowned Neil Costello and consequently doesn't put a foot wrong in the impeccable arrangements. Dave himself says that his years in London have resulted in a fusion style of music including gospel, soul, rock, jazz, etc and those influences show here. The pop sound of "Take Your Place" opens the album with its accessible laid-back sound and neat vocal harmony. I loved the electric slide guitar. "I Have Been Lifted Up" has a funkier, younger, bass-driven sound, whereas many of the tracks are quieter, calmer songs of waiting on God. "Falling" is a well-constructed song with passionate lyrics of longing and atmospheric interplay between the voice and the saxophone. "Here Comes The Fire" is an upbeat, fun album closer, with full band, roiling drums and rocking piano, surfing on the energy levels generated.
