I'm covered in shame! Last issue I reviewed Dave Thrush's collection of jazz-sax instrumental worship songs saying how pleased I was that it wasn't in the "Praise Him On The..." vein. Now I've got a record with that title I find it isn't in the least bit naff. 13 arrangements of modern praise numbers with Dave's accomplished sax playing are what you'll find here. I was really pleased that he'd recorded "What A Friend We Have In Jesus", and in keeping with Dave Thrush's album, "El Shaddai". Initial listening doesn't really do justice; you have to come back to this one a few times to hear all the nuances and subtlety of Dave's arrangements. His "To Be In Your Presence" is the highlight, always holding it back, but never becoming boring. If you like modern sax based jazz then this hour's worth is as good as any, I just wish they would think up more imaginative titles. Now, where is that copy of 'Praise Him On The Omnichord'.
