With David's numerous appearances as a solo and as part of the Gaither Vocal Band on Bill and Gloria's Homecoming Friends concerts over the last decade it must have been hard to decide which songs to go with. This selection showcases David's powerful tenor voice and stylistic diversity which has won him a big audience with middle-aged American church-goers. Trademark Southern gospel can be heard on "Let Freedom Ring" and "These Are They" written by Bill and Gloria, big jaunty ballads are featured on such as Phelps' own "End Of The Beginning" and hymn classics like "O Holy Night" where the singer is accompanied by sparkling piano and a large choir all work well. Benchmark party pieces like "Nessun Dorma" and "No More Night" also show David's lyric tenor to full effect. With accomplished and polished production, this is a good showcase of the man known in Southern gospel circles as "The Voice".
