David Smart is a Kansas-based guitarist who teaches music at a couple of mid-American institutions, and has performed in many countries alongside the likes of Phillips, Craig & Dean, First Call and Larnelle Harris. This solo disc ably shows off his finger-picking dexterity - in form of 12 instrumental tracks with Smart as sole musician. Nearly all tunes are popular hymns and choruses - "I Need Thee Every Hour", "Just As I Am", "We Are One In The Spirit", etc. The title track is perhaps the most adventurous, with Smart's finely-honed skills being most obvious. Other tracks, too, are impressive, thoroughly pleasant and relaxing. I feel that one or two tunes, however, don't have strong enough melodies to lend themselves to instrumental rendition. Nevertheless, this is beautiful chill-out music.
