Really, you might call this reissue of tracks from the veteran Scandinavian singer (very big in the 70s) the very essence of the MOR genre. 21 totally undemanding ditties given the most straightforward of renderings by a pleasant, warm, friendly voice. Backing is suitably simple, sometimes sort of country, otherwise with smooth orchestral support or gentle acoustic trimming. Evie now qualifies for a veteran tag, having started singing at an early age. The hallmark of this collection is "believability", the artist's experience, commitment and sincerity combining to give a convincing presentation. Some tracks, such as "Broken Up People", have a dated, weary pop sound, and there's a lack of sparkle in the arrangements department too often for comfort. So not a bad offering this, plenty that will please nostalgists remembering Evie Karlson's reign as one of early Christian music's most popular artists but just don't expect great music!
