Although released in 2006 this set from the renowned Scottish songwriter Stephen Fischbacher has only now come under the Cross Rhythms review spotlight. Helped by Steve Butler (of Lies Damned Lies fame), Stephen has put together an infectious resource of 10 songs for use in both church and schools. Indeed, the material here is sufficiently "non-religious" to be used in either setting. They are described as "songs to help us wonder, question and feel" and cover some of the amazing mysteries in the world. Each track has a catchy melody easy for kids to pick up without being insipid or formulaic and every song is of a consistently high standard with insightful lyrics, humour and a mix of musical influences. Particularly memorable tracks include "Weird And Wonderful" with amazing facts about animals, fish and insects and the Celtic rap "Creativity" reinforcing the fact that everyone is creative in some small way. As a bonus this CD contains the backing track for each song. A quality set of honest and unpatronising songs for children and a highly valuable resource.
