A three man one woman hip-hop/R&B team from Fresno, California, this album was released Stateside in '94 and reportedly was once distributed mainstream by BMG. Thanks to clever Robin Budgell 'Fishing For Men' is now available here. At first I wasn't sure, not all the tracks are particularly phat and a song like "66 Books" despite some soulful singing from Voyne Hullon is a dull list of the books of the Bible. But "Tricks Of The Devil" locks into a tight groove with a catchy chorus reminding us to avoid the Enemy while "Don't Sell Your Soul" and "Letter To The Cults" make their point well. A bigger budget would undoubtedly have produced a hotter album but connoisseurs of holy hip-hop may still want to investigate.
