'Shakin' The House Part 1' featured showgrabbers Carman and Commissioned and was nominated for a Grammy. So how does Part 2 compare? Well, this time out hosts are Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams and Hezekiah Walker, recorded in LA last year at a gospel music extravaganza. It's more traditional than Fred (Commissioned) Hammond is probably used to pumping out. I guess he'll have plenty of practise with his latest venture with urban songsters Radical For Christ. He opens with three belters from the 'Inner Court' album, launching straight for the spiritual jugular with "Unconditional". Yolanda Adams lets it rip on three other songs, with lively backup from the choir. It's amazing how she scales those octaves on "I'll Always" Remember". Hezekiah Walker is Reverend Encouraging for the night, testifyin' and praisin', accompanied by the Love Fellowship Crusade Choir on three further songs. The finale brings the trio together for the first time on "The Lord Is With Us In This Place" (written by Fred especially for the occasion). And did you know that between them, these three artists have sold more than four million albums? Staggering. If you like old time, testifyin' gospel, this one will grab you. It's a tad trad, but allow yourself to be captured by the spirit of the occasion. A worthy follow up.
