Grant Macaskill makes his recording debut with this independent release (in conjunction with Ian White's 'Im2' label). A young Scotsman who has already toured with Runrig, Grant's acoustic-based songs are imbued with Celtic strains, both in vocal sound and the poetic charm of his self-penned lyrics. Thus the haunting chill of the beautiful 'North wind' and the rock-tinged "Deacon Brodies" (a song Runrig would be proud of!). While the gorgeously tender "The Healing" tells of a human love relationship, it's not 'til the closing title-track that the faith which guides this singer is given overt expression. With instrumental/production aid from Phil Lidstone (Ian White, Andrew Jenkins Lamb), this is indeed an impressive debut disc.
