An album of self-penned pop worship songs along with an old hymn with a new tune, and I'm sorry to say that Jeff has suffered an attack of lyrical cliche-itis. The words to those songs that aren't closely based on Scripture are a tad twee, with "he died for me at Calvary" making an unwelcome appearance. Musically, the songs aren't anything to get excited about either, and Jeff's voice has a rough edge that sometimes means he misses the notes, especially the high ones. Also, playing time for 12 tracks is a bit stingy at 39 minutes. On the positive side, Jeff did everything himself: production, engineering, arranging, singing and playing are all down to him. I'm not so sure that 100 per cent DIY CCM is a good thing; often it's worthwhile having another pair of ears behind the mixer. Nevertheless, all things considered, not a bad try, and things should get better with experience.
