Readers of album sleeve small print will know the name Jimmy Abegg from just about any Charlie Peacock album you care to mention. Now the man turns in a tough debut which deftly blends blues, R&B and occasionally jazz into a sinuous rock brew which reminds me of everybody from Peter Gabriel to Phil Keaggy (he's playing bass on some cuts!) Yet over the album Jimmy A begins to stamp his own originality on the project. Jimmy plays some deliciously economical guitar licks and Charlie Peacock himself takes a delightfully soulful lead on "I'll Meet You In Heaven". A fine album, let's hope more follows.
