Joanna Carlson is the latest singer/songwriter to emerge from Reunion's stable of talented artists. Her debut is produced by Brent Bourgeouis and Wayne Kirkpatrick so you won't be surprised to find that this is perfect adult pop, smoother than the proverbial baby's bottom. Joanna has a pleasing voice which brings to mind the words Easton and Sheena, not necessarily in that order! Lyrically, everything is as it should be, tender songs poetically declaring faith and love for Jesus, all nicely performed but after five listens I am still untouched by these songs. If you threatened to blast me with a blunderbuss, I still wouldn't be able to hum any of this to save my life! Each song is bathed in thousands of dollars of musical talent but sadly I am left feeling indifferent and suspect it's all fur coat and no knickers - lots of Nashville gloss with not enough underneath. At best a grower, at worst a woman seriously in need of some catchy hooks on which to hang those beautiful lyrics and lovely voice.

I've always loved Joanna's album. I've returned to it over the years, checking the internet for a follow-up. I've been so disappointed that more has not been forthcoming. I couldn't disagree with the above critic more. Joanna's "You Can Belong to Me" should be a Christian classic. More from Joanna would be a blessing.
