A praise and worship project in largely acoustic pop style which for me is a shame as I enjoyed his earlier rock recordings (e.g., 'No Frontiers' from 1993). But though there are no electric guitar pyrotechnics on this album, there is superb guitar playing in abundance. The first two tracks ("I Want To See Your Kingdom Come" and "You Make My Feet") are uptempo worship songs while the next two ("Image Of The Unseen God" and "Restore My Soul" are more reflective. A highlight is the one "rocker" on the album, "Settle My Mind", and as Johnny himself says on the liner notes, "Serious message -fun music!" The balance of the tracks are all well crafted, finely played songs in a reflective mood with a brief return to an uptempo mood with "He's The Lord Of Hosts". I like Johnny Markin, and I like this album. Lyrics are Bible-based and Christ-focussed with Scripture references given with the lyrics. Well produced and deftly played. Johnny Markin is a fine guitarist whether he is rocking, praising or meditating. An album worth getting (check out his back catalogue as well!).
