For my money studio wizard Jonny Baker is one of the most underrated talents in British Christian music and this set is another example of how his Proost output can craftily blend the chilled out rhythms of clubland into the worship experience. Originally penned for the 1999 Sunday morning service at Greenbelt, 'Eucharist' includes contributions from Scotland’s alternative worship pioneers Late Late Service, as well as Host and Sanctuary and runs as a communion service incorporating the liturgy – welcome, opening prayer, hymns, Gloria, creed, confession, prayer, eucharistic prayer, blessing – into a shifting musical pattern which are both reverential and relevant. Jonny’s usual compatriots Jon Birch and Doug Gay add to the emotive mood. A brilliant album.
