Brit Judith has been living in France since around 1989 and has since then penned and recorded a number of songs. This is a collection of four French-language songs, three of which were written by Judith. All the lyrics deal with the love of God. The song titles translate as "Love Is Stronger Than Death", "I Need Love", "Show Us Your Heart" and "Your Love Endures Forever". Musically the results are rather mixed. The vocal and guitars on "L'Amour Est Plus Fort Que La Mort" are both swamped with reverb, making the whole sound quite muddy. Given that there is little chordal variation, considerable musical repetition and almost two minutes of guitar play-out at the end, and it has been compressed/limited to extremes, this is a wearing song to listen to at a length of 7:29. "J'ai Besoin D'Amour" is more gentle but the timing is a little wooden. "Révèle-Nous Ton Coeur" is in more of a relaxed folk style and to my ear this is the track that works best with Judith's voice. "Ton Amour Dure à Toujours" begins with tribal-style drums leading into an upbeat song of praise. It's perhaps an odd thing to say but whilst Judith's voice is pleasant, for much of this CD her vocals don't sound engaged with the music. Really, that's the mixer's fault. All the tracks have been heavily compressed and limited, losing much of the dynamic range, and this might be a contributory factor towards the sense that Judith sings at one level throughout each song, with minimal expressiveness. All in all, a pretty good singer let down by poor production.
