In a Christian music scene where many worship songs are lyrically lightweight and where too many albums of low quality bearing the marketing buzz word "Celtic" have been foisted on the public, this project stands out as one of the highest creative integrity. Keith Getty has long been renowned for providing the Church with "singable theology" and with two of Nashville's finest producers in tow (Charlie Peacock and Ed Cash) and some truly wonderful guests, the result is the finest ever album by the husband and wife duo. Wherever you turn there are breathtaking gems. Moya Brennan brings a haunting Gaelic vocal to Kristyn's original lullaby "A Mother's Prayer"; the ageless "Nothing But The Blood" has a masterly Irish arrangement which includes a bit of long-time ceilidh favourite "Toss The Feathers"; while that dazzling guitar-picker Ricky Skaggs adds some jaw-dropping licks on the instrumental "The Village Reel". Possibly the best track of all is the new version of the Getty/Townend classic "In Christ Alone" where the poignant tones of Alison Krauss take the beautiful hymn to a new level. Throughout, Getty's lyrics are deeply Scriptural and occasionally powerfully challenging (for instance, you wouldn't hear a song like "Simple Living" sung in any of the prosperity gospel mega churches). All in all, an album which will feed hearts and spirits for years to come.

Product Description
As Keith and Kristyn Getty continue to write modern hymns for the church, this newest collection comes from the challenge to consider not just what we sing on those occasions when we’re all together but how the shared lyrics of our faith speak into all the moments in between.
Musically, Hymns for the Christian Life reflects both the Celtic and American folk traditions, old and new world brought together, just as we lean on the rich legacy of Church music we already have with songs written for the life of the Church today.
Produced by respected producers Charlie Peacock (The Civil Wars, Switchfoot, Amy Grant) and Ed Cash (Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band) the album includes performances with Ricky Skaggs (Simple Living), Alison Krauss (In Christ Alone), and Moya Brennan (A Mother’s Prayer).
