Here's something a little unusual - a roots reggae band not based in Jamaica, and furthermore, with a distinct Latino influence. Living Stone was set up in Southern California in 2000 by Mario Rocha, and with his brother Raymond and their pals Jorge Morales and Cesar Espinoza, their mission statement is to see people saved, healed and set free through reggae music. Compared with a band like Christafari, Living Stone seem to be on the soft side, with gentle vocals and little in the way of serious in-your-face toastin'. The five songs on this sampler check in at nearly 25 minutes, and whilst the Christian message is clear, I'm not sure that a hardcore secular reggae buff would be particularly impressed.
