Mark Scutt has been leading worship for various churches and events in the London area for a number of years. 'Relentless' carries a remarkably proficient sound for a debut venture and includes a wide range of impressive sounds. Essentially a worship disc, the self-penned lyrics are almost unanimously God-directed, expressing a deep peace in Christ with a yearning for more. The opening three numbers are truly quality congregational praise songs, each with strong, catchy melodies. From this base, Mark branches out into less-chartered territory. "The One" has obvious U2 leanings, building in intensity as it stealthily progresses. The piano-based "Communion" comes over like a cross between Keane and Delirious? and is a real highlight of the album. Pitched in the middle are a couple of stripped-down acoustic pieces - intimate and reflective. The disc closes with a moody introspective instrumental similar to Prayerworks creations. A fitting close. Mark has a fine, adaptive voice which he surrounds with finely-honed accompaniment (artful doses of violin, acoustic guitar, percussion, programming, backing vocals - and some great lead guitar licks). To boot, it's well produced, and all profits go to a specified charity. A thoroughly creative venture, this is a disc that truly ought not to go unnoticed.

A worship album that stems the tide of self focused songs and lifts our hearts and minds to Christ. Superb!

we loved it and used 'the one' at our daughter's dedication service... (with permission of course!)

A thoroughly good first album (roll on the second) - we bought copies to give to friends and none were disappointed

Not biased in any way of course but we think it is excellent! Play it constantly in our centre & get very good comments.
