This is the DVD version of Marvin's seventh album, recorded live at Resurrection Life Church, Grandville, Michigan in January 2007. The production is very tight and Marvin is surrounded by a large group of high quality musicians and singers who are obviously passionate about what they are doing, but don't for a minute swamp Marvin's powerful voice. When reviewing the audio CD I had observed that the songs are very personal and having now seen Marvin singing them they seem even more so. He comes over very genuinely as he shares testimony as to how God has worked in his life over the last few years. I still hold to my opinion that the programme of songs is too ballad-heavy though the extended length of some of the tracks works much better on DVD than when just listening to the CD. Visually, not only are there several cameras on jibs doing nice visual moves but you can spot someone walking around with a Steadicam too, so the filming is of a high quality. The whole thing is a very professional concert and yet the audience certainly found it an occasion of praise and worship - at times in a quiet prayerful state, at times with tears and at other times getting down rather enthusiastically! Also featured is a backstage interview, although this is very short. It would have been nice to have a bit more of this sort of thing to provide more of a picture as to who Marvin is.

Product Description
Multiple Award-winner and perennial gospel music favourite, Marvin Sapp, returns with 'Thirsty', arguably the career-defining CD and DVD releases of his solo career.
He has succeeded in establishing himself as one of the most recognisable voices in gospel music through his solo work, and of course as a member of the influential gospel group Commissioned.
Sapp declared himself 'not a singer who can preach, but rather a preacher who just happens to sing,' and he does both with ease on 'Thirsty'.
The title is based on scripture, 'Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled' (Matthew 5:6). Sapp spends the lion’s share of his time on the road, travelling around the world, preaching the word of God to anyone who will hear him. During these extensive travels, Sapp has seen vast differences in how people worship and revere God. He’s seen a difference in how God dispenses His grace, anointing, and power to those who humbly and eagerly seek Him and His glory. Drastic times call for drastic measures, and the world that we live in needs to turn back to God. Thirsty is a clarion call for those who yearn after God’s own heart.
For 'Thirsty', Sapp teamed up with one the industry’s most promising up-and-coming producers. Aaron Lindsey (Israel & New Breed, Martha Munizzi), the multi-talented Myron Butler and members of his 2007 Stellar Awardwinning choir, Levi, along with members of 2007 Grammy Award-winning New Breed all joined forces in what is arguably the most innovative mix of talent the industry has seen in years. The result is a compelling audio and video release with broad reach and large scope.
