Michael Farren has been around for a while and is a Dove Award winning songwriter and producer. The last thing he expected was a crisis of faith having been a Christian for over 25 years but 'Fighting For Us' was birthed out of that dark place as he asked himself questions that he never thought he would ask of a God he thought he knew and loved. Farren opens the album with the track "I Belong To Jesus" which along with "Oh Praise (The Only One)" proclaims the majesty of God. My favourite of the album's praise songs would have to be "Praise The King" probably because I can imagine this translating to a congregational worship setting. "Fighting For Us" is probably the strongest track on the album while "Prisoners" has a real bluesy feel and a touch of the Van Morrison about it. I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this album at first but after listening a couple of times it connected. Well worth investigating.
