It seems that Michael J Ramplin has been building up a bit of a reputation on the British Christian country music scene. This album features one of his most successful tracks, "Johnny Cash Led Men to Jesus". I actually don't think this is the best track on the album, but I guess the sentiment plays a large part in its popularity. I actually find "The Greatest Friend Of All" more inspiring so in that sense it's a good choice for title track. There are no real surprises - it's an album that's typical for the old school country genre with the usual hooks and twangy guitar parts. Solid if unspectacular songs are backed by sympathetic production from Brook Trickett. Next time it would be nice to hear Michael recording with a full band, rather than relying on sequenced drums although these are better than some.
