A low-fi acoustic bash of eclectic styles, embracing folk, pop and "deeply emotional content. . .", so Mike's flier states. Mostly solo voice reminiscent of Freddie Garrity, Brian Ferry and George O'Dowd. (Yer what? Ed) The trio is very samey throughout with the predictable triads and relative minors you would expect from a three piece acoustic pop outfit. A shame, this. Mike has some beautifully worked lyrics which should have matured into the music much more by now. (Mike has a long musical career behind him, it says here). But the passion and love of God are evident from this "recovering addict". I'm left in a dilemma as to whether this rough and ready album is aimed primarily at addicts as an outreach tool or whether it wants to draw attention to how Jesus alone can be the answer to this social problem. Maybe it's aimed at both. Two tracks were aimed at HRH The Princess Of Wales by special commission by the West London Mission, but there is no reference as to which two tracks these are. I would like to hear this musically competent threesome develop the music more to match some lovely syntax. The £7.00 is high for a tape of this calibre. Without wishing to sound condescending, it will be a more philanthropic supporter that will dip into the pocket to buy one.
