N.R.G. Source are a team of rappers, DJs, dancers and singers from South Wales who run a dance event in their local church. Beginning with other people's music, the team have graduated to creating their own music and 'Jireh' is the first fruit of that creativity. This of course is "bedroom music" created with limited resources but with good effect. The CD is mainly two parts beginning with "The Book Of Life Mix" which is a seamless selection of six songs that slickly cross fade and wouldn't sound out of place in clubland. The second part is "The Testament Mix" which again is a segue of six songs slipped together. Both pieces give you nearly an hour of music. It's mainly driving grooves, some other samples and a little bit of singing. The CD closes with alternate versions of two of the songs from the mixes. Dance DJs may want to check this out for your own event but I'm left wondering if beyond the beat, there needs to be a little more creativity to actually communicate something rather than just moving punters' feet . Good first effort though.
