Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama, is the Seventh Day Adventist college which has given the music world such stars as Take 6 and Bryan McNight. It’s also where Tony Thompson is currently working towards a degree in performing arts. When not studying, Tony directs New Creation, born out of an Adventist church in Atlanta, Georgia, and clearly this male/female choir are doing a good job in revitalising an interest in deft choral arrangements of old time spirituals. If the occasional dip into this musical territory by Sounds Of Blackness has whetted your interest in complexly arranged choral renditions of spirituals (like “Old Time Religion”) coupled with newer material like “Great Is Your Faithfulness”, all sung in magnificent acapella, here’s an album to search out.

i love this group. the recently performed at Emory
University's annual Community Choir Festival. ASTOUNDING!
The sound quality & the arrangements were breath taking.
I heard they are working on an album with Mervyn Warren,
producer formally with Take 6.
