As UK children's worship maestro Ishmael (Ian Smale) says, "Children are today's church and tomorrow's leaders." New Wine events cater equally for children as well as adults, with artists such as Sam Cox and Jemima Woodbridge leading the way in developing their worship material. This album is aimed at pre-schoolers which brings with it the particular challenge of creating simple songs that are more than just simplistic. "What Noise Shall We Make" - "Here is my loud noise, fast noise, slow noise" etc falls into the latter group, while "May God's Blessing" reaches beyond as a gentle prayer of benediction, the accompanying children's voices complementing the message of peace. The disc closes with Martin Smith's "God's Great Dance Floor" featuring Woodbridge's sweet vocals after a tight piano and percussion intro and the eternal truth expressed in a great song though in the context of this album it would have benefited from some children's voices. One additional observation, even pre-school worship could do with incorporating more Scripture. There is little here so there is still some way to go before New Wine Kids reach the gold standard set by Rev Smale.
