The Newsboys can really only be described as legends of Christian pop rock. Their latest offering is a live worship recording made on their God's Not Dead tour in Minnesota. The songs here are drawn mainly from their last two studio albums with a few classics thrown in for good measure. The mix allows Michael Tait's gutsy voice to be clearly front and centre, but as a consequence the accompaniments occasionally get a tad muddied with the drums lacking power and the cymbals sounding very tinny. 'Live In Concert' also has rather a bass heavy sound which may not suit everyone's ears. But having said all that, the song "He Reigns" is a stone classic powerfully sung here by Tait while "Born Again" and "Miracles" demonstrate the power of great hooks in the best pop-rock. There are also several songs which will be familiar to those whose churches use modern worship, such as "Mighty To Save" and "Your Love Never Fails". It may not be the greatest live worship album you will ever experience, but the Newsboys' first for their new record label is uplifting and energising.
