It would appear that Toronto, Canada was something of a rhythms & blues hotbed back in the ‘60s and Danny Brooks, recently born again, was at the forefront of this movement. Joined on this release by Amoy Levy and Hiram Joseph - and of course his Allstars - Brooks romps competently through a set of blues and soul standards (the Impressions' “People Get Ready”, Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” and Bob Dylan’s “Saved” among them) as well as self-penned material. The result is a highly enjoyable and inspirational set. Truly rousing.
