Clever of Greenbelt to try an 'Ambient Night' to kick off their fest this year and here's one of the exponents of Christendom's counter culture response to New Age Music. Paul is well known as the slightly eccentric exponent of the electric violin and here he plays violin, electric and acoustic, with his usual intuitive sense of all that is eery and dreamlike. Occasionally the tuning against Grenville Harding's synths makes for some uncomfortable passages but mostly the billowing, intricate vistas of ambient atmosphere are perfect for contemplation, meditation or plain old background music.
