Plumb's early albums had an edge that was lacking on the successful 'Beautiful Lumps Of Coal' so long time Plumb fans can rejoice that 'Chaotic Resolve' sees the bite returning to her music. Comparisons with Evanescence seem inevitable on some of these tracks but the undeniable facts that transcend everything are that Plumb writes superb songs with poetic lyrics and delivers them in a compelling voice that's impossible to ignore. She knows how to write catchy emotive songs like "Real Life Fairytale", "Better" and the brilliant ballad "Cut". Highlights for me are the edgy rock of "I Can't Do This" and the atmosphere and emotion of "Jekyll & Hyde". There's even a bonus re-working of an earlier track "Damaged" giving it a fresh vibe. Surely it's only a matter of time before Plumb breaks out in the UK and is respected as the fine songwriter and artist which she undoubtedly is. But it seems that writing songs that touch difficult issues and creating music which combine pop, rock and a creative edge is not the quickest way to success. But this album is a winner all the way!
