Confession time again. If you're like me then you probably think brass band music is something like the Brigghouse and Rastrick Brass Band doing floral dance and nothing new has come along since. Well if so then this will probably surprise you as this mostly live recording (mostly because some scenes were specially shot outdoors) features some atmospheric material, lighting and even some dancing (though it has to be said that the dancing probably should have been left out) which seems to bring a whole new life and originality to the genre that I wouldn't have thought possible. There is excellent instrumental ensemble work, some fine solos, particularly from David Language and Matthew Gibbs, and the Regent Hall Songsters make a pleasant choral noise with pleasing interaction between the bass and soprano voices.
