Could this be the first in gospel music? A Catholic gospel choir? This group was formed last summer with a firm aim to be a music ministry. The album was funded by choir and band members, so hats off to them. Curiosity kept me hooked to see what they sound like. Well, for starters, LCGC they ain't. But I guess they're not striving to be anybody else. What do you get for your money? Well, there are several big Ron Kenoly numbers (or should that be Big Ron?) - "Mourning Into Dancing", "Ancient Of Days", "God Is Able", "Lift Him Up", "Jesus Is Alive"... but if you're expecting a mega Kenoly-type opus, it doesn't quite reach the musical mark. However, the gentle "My Prayer" caught my ear. Singer Bernadette Dawson hits notes powerfully and passionately, adding a softer tone to the proceedings. I'm not so sure about some songs elsewhere on the album. "Ancient Of Days" is a bit 'ouch!' on the ears and the pace is way too fast. Slow down guys! Overall, a bit too raw and scratchy. If you want the full Kenoly impact, you'd be better off strutting your proverbial to the real McKoy.
