The second album from the popular Scottish unit is different in style to the Royal Foundlings' debut, but just as good. As suggested by the title, electric guitars are replaced by acoustic ones, but the band goes further, re-crafting their old songs to blend seamlessly with their new material and two hymns. A good example is "We Believe" which is performed here in a relaxed but assured way that gently builds but never gets as active as the rapped-on rock version found on 'Foundations'. 'Live And Unplugged' combines personal testimony songs and worship songs (like "Hallelujah") in a way that draws you in and makes you feel as though you're at the show, rather than listening to a recording. However this album goes beyond merely rewarding loyal fans - it also gives new listeners a live introduction to this band that leaves you wanting to seek out their earlier material. From their base in Glasgow, Royal Foundlings have spent much of the last two years performing in America as well as other parts of the UK. This album demonstrates how far they have matured during that time.
