I prophecy (OK, predict) an extension of this man's ministry. North of the border, Sam has been called "Scotland's Ishmael" and I'm certain it's only a matter of time that we Sassenachs recognise that Sam is not only the superlative leader of the Electrics and con-ceiver of Celtic Praise but a man who can finally wrench children's music away from the Sunday School medley drivel and squeaky clean Americanisms (talking computers et al) which have too long clogged the catalogues of Christian record companies. Sam's songs exude spiritual truth but he's artfully set them against melodies and arrangements which are like a Greatest Hits walk through 30 years of pop rock history. So here he's gently pastiching Buddy Holly, there he puts together a 60s sound and over there he's even touching on heavy metal. Wonderful album Sam. Parents, go buy this one for your kids
