Made up of no less than six vocalists, rock worship team Shepherd Hall's sound is rich in musical texture; brought sharply in line here by producer Jeff Savage (Jars Of Clay, Plumb, Natalie Imbruglia), resulting in a fine album. Two years in the making, the band's debut has enough diversity to not only establish their unique sound, but also captivate and maintain the listener's attention throughout with the band's intriguing brand of acoustic based rock. With their cover of Yes1 "Leave It", Shepherd Hall demonstrate their keen vocal skills. And it certainly challenges some perceptions of praise and worship to include a secular cover version in their set. Other stand out cuts have to be the exquisite musicianship found on both "Clouds" and "Walking Free", resulting in a pleasant listening experience; coupled with Christ-centered lyrics covering a wide range of relevant issues for today's youth, 'Shepherd Hall' is sure to encourage and lovingly challenge all who venture a spin.
