This is Blink 182 for Christians. 'Wake Up Screaming' the follow-up to 1998s 'Burn Out' , is hardcore for thinking people, with lyrics that are full of the kind of feelings and sentiments about our relationship with Jesus that each one of us experience every day. Tooth & Nail's press release describes this as "songs recorded during a happier period" in the band's career. The 14 tracks on this album question our lack of Christian commitment ("Have I Said Too Much?"); challenge our apathy ("This Is Your Life"); point us to a loving faithful Father ("Constancy") and remind us of the blessings that we have in Jesus ("Lucky") - all to a musical backdrop that is more Dr Feelgood than thrash, and all in a very positive way. This isn't doom and gloom to an apocalyptic sonic assault, it is well written, well played and well worth buying. This band rocks - with depth, perhaps that's the way God is going to wake us up!
