I love to find an album where there's one outstanding track that's worth the price of the whole CD. And so it is with "All That I Need" on this promising collection from UK-based Steve Jones. It's a soulful gospel song with prominent piano and organ intro and accompaniment, reminiscent of Bill Withers' "Lean On Me" and a similarly important message, not too far from the idea of leaning on Jesus - "Your love never fails no matter what I'm going through." The opening track "You Are" is a song of gratitude and appreciation of blessedness, while the meditative "Be Still" encourages trust in God. "Not To Us" is a catchy upbeat song that tells us where our worship should be directed. Jones has an appealingly strong voice that reminded me of David Bowie, Bryan Ferry and Elton John, but Jones' themes are explicitly spiritual. Background vocals by Miranda Dickinson are subtle but effective. Production by Chris Smith is excellent with vocals and music well balanced, while his keyboard and guitar work enhance the songs. As I said at the beginning, "All That I Need" is a song I hope many get to hear.
