Sunday Best is a team of four young girls and two lads who have been persuaded by parents to record a bunch of old songs that have been popular in (American) Sunday School for aeons. It would appear therefore that the entire concept - as well as being aimed at kids themselves, is as much for parents who feel some nostalgia for their Sunday School days. The sleeve notes and album title say as much explicitly. So we get loads of seasoned favourites from days of yore - "Oil In My Lamp", "Jesus Bid Us Shine", "This Little Light Of Mine", "Wide, Wide As The Ocean", plus numerous more that aren't kids choruses as such ("This Is The Day", "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus", etc). Most are traditional melodies, being as old as the hills. The tunes are well enough sung, but it's all a bit too structured with little spontaneity or any sense that the kids are really loving this. By the time they get to the closing "Jesus Loves Me" they're practically nodding off, and so am I.......

yes I agree, the old songs are the best!. Its over 40 years ago. since I was singing the above songs in sunday school and I can still remember every word! . Simple words with lovely melodies. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this if I had young children.

My four year old daughter was given this cd and she really loves it. I don't know why your reveiwer (whoever he is) has to be so cynical and critical-really gets on my nerves. The music is really good and my daughter now knows lots of songs about God which can't be a bad thing.
