I was unsure what to expect with this album. The cover has a whiff of nostalgia about it, so I thought it might be a set of really old children's choruses (from the CSSM days, even!) - and, indeed, a number of such golden oldies do appear on here ("There Are Hundreds Of Sparrows", "Only A Boy Called David" and "When The Road Is Rough And Steep", for example). But instead of accompaniment provided by a wheezing harmonium and single acoustic guitar, they're given a more contemporary makeover by Britain's ubiquitous Andy Harsant as producer/arranger and sung with a certain amount of enthusiasm by a four-voiced children's ensemble. It's really an album to be played by damp-eyed parents to their wide-eyed kids. Yes, we really did sing such things. And they don't sound too bad even now!
